My Plan to Resolve Elderly Malnutrition at Club Prior
What it is:
-
Expanding the existing ROCK food program for Prior Lake kids to include Club Prior seniors
-
Through ROCK, food will be available in a pantry at Club Prior where seniors will be able to take a maximum of 8 items every Thursday to get them through the weekend
-
The pantry will include food meant specifically for seniors, such as canned fruits and vegetables, oatmeal, canned chicken and tuna, granola, and more.

Workability:
-
When I asked a resident of Club Prior if they would use the pantry, she said, "“Yes, I would love that” and “ ... I would really love to have peanut butter and tuna at home.”
-
Numerous health benefits would arise from the pantry that would benefit the seniors of Club Prior. For example, peanut butter and canned chicken would be provided in the pantry, which both contain protein which is necessary for seniors because it promotes bone and muscle health.

Call to Action:
-
By implementing this plan, many Club Prior residents will finally be able to have healthy food to make full and easy meals for themselves.
-
Implementing this plan will help residents of Club Prior live healthier and longer lives.
